Who is your guess for the starting Left Fielder on the Opening Day Seattle Mariner’s roster? In my opinion it is going to come down to Jarred Kelenic or Taylor Trammell, with a slight edge to Trammell. Both are extremely exciting players. Kelenic is coming off of a minor injury, but has looked great since his limited return. He hit his second homer of Spring Training today against the Brewers. Julio Rodrigues, another exciting young outfielder, hit a home run as well today. Taylor Trammell has been a sparkplug for the Mariners during Spring Training. His energy alone is reason enough to have him on the roster. But he has also been the most consistent of the options that are battling for the Left Field position. He can hit well against both left and right handed pitchers. He’s played good defense, he can play all three outfield positions, and gives the potential of a left-hand bat with a speed element in the lineup. Either way, I’m excited for the future of the Mariners and the young talent coming up from the #3 rated farm system.
